A short route in for anyone who wants to understand Rat Games and whether it may suit their dog.
Rat Games is a dog sport where the dog searches for tubes with rat scent on a course built from straw bales, tunnels, and hides. The handler reads the dog and calls "RAT!" when the dog indicates the correct tube. It sounds simple, but the sport tests independent scent work, body control, courage, focus, and teamwork.
In Sweden, only dead rats from approved sources are used. Live rats are not used. The purpose is scent work and the dog's joy in working, not hunting live animals.
You do not need to know the rulebook by heart to try. Training sessions are there to help dog and handler understand the basics at a calm pace.
Rebel Sporting Arena can run introductory courses, lectures, try-out sessions, and demonstrations where there is interest.
The official rulebook, event information, and the judge's briefing always take priority over a simplified summary.
